Christmas is over a
nd New Year almost upon us and winter is certainly here. The frosts are very welcome and giving the gardens a good chill in preparation for Spring.
The helebore buds are just emerging from the ground and the jasmine nudiflorum is a lovely bright flower on these often frosty or grey days. The winter flowering clematis is full of buds too.
Boxing day was a frost free day so I was out in the garden planting a weeping cherry tree and having a general tidy up and removing the dead perennial foliage relocating a scabious. Don’t like walking on the lawns when it is so wet this time of year so did what I wanted to do and retreated inside.
New Kitten Poppy is settling in well and has just started to venture out of the conservatory to explore the garden but has lots of confidence to gain yet as well as sounds and sights (she’s not too sure about those things that fly about above her head…. she makes a dash back into the safety of the conservatory) but sure come spring she and her feline friend Jasmine with explore together. Meanwhile she loves my new wellies i am so lucky receiving lovely presents including metal garden bench which in the spring will be sited in the garden (not quite sure where yet)….
So get the kettle on and the seed catalogues out and get planning for 2017 ….
